About me

I recently have completed my degree in fashion and marketing which has enabled me to gain a background of with working with excel and sku's in a mock-up business operation. I enjoy working with numbers and marketing in the fashion environment. My chosen degree has meant that I have had the opportunity to develop superb skills in finance, having developed a small business proposal, developing a weekly, monthly and yearly sale forecasts. I was able to gain a basic knowledge of all the other vital things that one would need to know when beginning and running a small business. For my dissertation i introduced a menswear range into an existing business in Spitalfields which i performed market research, analyzed data and enable to find a gap within the market which gave me a target consumer along with competitors. I have Gathered and analyzed Trend Research producing mood, colour and fabric boards, also prepared spec sheets for a Range that I designed in keeping with target consumers wants and needs along with the branding already set out by the company.

The Collection is a design studio that specializes in womanswear and Textile design. It produces samples in 3-D and @-d for designers from Oscar De La Renta to Topshop to purchase. My main roles at The Collection are pattern cutting, making Samples, specing designs, liaising with the head designer about what direction we should go for up and coming seasons.

Having worked at a design studio (The Collection) for an extent of time I have been able to meet a lot of buyers and see how things work from all aspects of the business. And have acquired a keen eye for what sells to what customer and also why things don't sell.

I have recently been given the chance to work closely with Christopher Matthews and learn about the relationship between him and the clients and how the business side of the studio works.

At the collection I was given the opportunity to design my own range of embroidered t-shirts. Doing so I learnt how to speck embroidery designs to be sent of to factories in India and the process in which a embellished garment goes through. Two of the companies that these designs sold to were, the Kate Moss range at Topshop and DKNY.

Since leaving the Collection I have worked within a temp role at River Island within their E-Commerce Department where I learnt a lot about what is behind the up keep on a high street website. I was in charge of collecting together, and returning, all of the garment needed from all departments to be photographed and uploaded.

At the beginning of the year I worked for a company called Alandar Park. The brands that fall under the Alandar Park family are Ellis Bridals, Kelsey Rose and John Charles. Whilst working there my roles have been mainly assistant duties to the warehouse manager but I have learnt a great deal about merchandising and now am in charge of visually merchandising the show room to suit different customers when they come to preview and purchase the new seasons collection fro their stores. I have also been allowed the opportunity to accompany the design team on photo shoots and have learnt an enormous amount about the preparation and organization is needed to insure that the time on location is used in the most efficient way.

In April I received the opportunity to work on the E-commerce department at Rise design Ltd as a website and marketing coordinator. My main roles were to insure products were photographed correctly and uploaded onto the website. Along with insuring the imputing of stock levels was done and the general up keep of the website. I also was involved in customer service and answered enquires on a daily basis as customer care was very important to the company. Another role I had was to produce the art work for the website homepage and the newsletters, which would be sent out 2-4 times a month. This involved trend research and close monitoring of the competitors. As it was a small company and only myself plus an admin assistant on the e-commerce team I was able to experience a lot and deal with many situations in my time there.

With all my past experiences and skills I feel that I really want to pursue a career that veers down the design route and ideally would love to design for the high street as I would love to be given the opportunity to create clothes for the for the People I identify with and feel passionate about inspiring them with exciting and innovative clothing, giving them a glimpse of the newest trends from the catwalk and really making them excited about fashion and clothing.

I have a intermediate level on Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, I am currently learning how to use In Design. I work confidently with CAD and pick up programs quickly.

I am extremely interested in fashion and my marketing knowledge means I have a keen eye for monitoring all breadths of the fashion market from high street to high-end fashion

I am a lively social person who gets along working within a team and alone, is hard working and enjoys a challenge.
