About me

In July 2008 I completed an honours degree in Graphic Communication and Design at Leeds University. It was a broad based degree covering graphic design, branding and creative advertising and served to give me a firm platform and understanding of the aspects involved within this industry. In addition to my degree I also have practical experience in the design and advertising industry as the internships that AMV BBDO, RKCR Y R and Communicator World provided me with developed my awareness and merely reinforced my belief that I am pursuing the right career path and encouraged me to build further upon this. Inevitably I am now at the stage where I am looking for a permanent position or a long-term internship with the end goal of a full time job. I remain convinced that I am able and ready to conduct the required tasks within these sectors, as I am competent in Adobe programmes such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign and have a good understanding of what to expect when put under pressure. I value highly organisation and punctuality and believe that they should be paramount to any successful company or in answering any brief. With that said, I am also a firm believer that there is no set formula to successfully answering a brief - each one is unique in its own way and therefore warrants a fine tuned concoction of techniques to fulfil its needs which in turn requires a sense of flexibility and innovation. Lastly, due to the nature of this industry nothing ever becomes stagnant and is constantly evolving, which I believe echoes certain traits of my personality – a passion to learn new and emerging technology, a hunger for newborn challenge and a keen desire to succeed.Based upon my beliefs, I have a necessity for creative thinking and strategy. For this reason I am paramount that I would be most suited and effective working alongside art directors, creatives, copywriters and designers in the design and advertising world.To take a slightly different angle upon my career aspirations and interests, I have always been a keen photographer and have a much developed respect and interest for the power of the camera. Although my primary background and experience is not focused specifically in photography, I think that through several years of experimentation with a camera and a good creative eye I know the technical basics well and have a good compositional understanding.
