About me

Lucy founded Uncommon Creative Studio in September 2017, with her two partners, Nils Leonard and Natalie Graeme. They founded Uncommon with a clear purpose: to build brands that people in the real world actually wish existed, either by working with clients or by creating brands themselves.

Since launching, Uncommon has created highly awarded, disruptive work for ITV, the Guardian, Ovo, WWF, Habito, Ecover, Chillys, On The Beach, BrewDog and Nike. They've also launched a sustainable coffee business, haloffee. In two years, they have grown to 55 people and achieved over £5m annual revenue. Resulting in being the most awarded start up in the UK and Campaign naming them 'the most exciting start-up of their generation' - which reflected when the studio won the coveted title of this year's 'Independent Agency of the Year' at Campaign's annual Agency Awards.

Prior to founding Uncommon, Lucy was Chief Strategy Officer and then CEO of the 550 strong Grey London. Grey became a creative and commercial turnaround story, winning two Grand Prix at Cannes in 2015, IPA Effectiveness Agency of the Year in 2014, Euro Effies Agency of the Year and also picking up a coveted Cannes Black Creative Effectiveness lion for the British Heart Foundation.

Lucy started work in advertising at BMP DDB, after reading history at Oxford University, and over nearly 20 years, she worked her way from grad trainee to Global Head of Strategy for DDB. While she ran DDB London's planning department, they won IPA Effectiveness Agency three times in a row.

Lucy is a regular industry speaker and mentor. During her year out before starting Uncommon, she mentored at WAYRA, Telefonica's start up incubator and interned at Facebook. Lucy has expressed the importance of purpose, effectiveness and strategy at the likes of Google Firestarters, IPA Excellence, IAB, Cannes, Facebook 'Faces to Watch' and APG conferences. Also speaking on diversity at Rare for D&AD and mentoring regularly for APG and WACL. She's judged Cannes Creative Effectiveness, Cannes Creative Strategy, APG, Effies and IPA Effectiveness. Lucy, and fellow Uncommon founder Natalie, were also commended in AdAge's esteemed annual list: Women to Watch Europe.
