About me

I am an enthusiastic and dedicated textile design specialist with creative flair, enthusiasm and knowledge of both the fashion and interior design industry focusing on print and surface pattern. During my MA in Fashion and Textiles I have explored digital print, laser cutting and etching in relation to my textile practice. I am keen to work within a textile, product or interior context. As a designer I am naturally a team player and my time as a teacher and lecturer has provided me with invaluable motivational and communication skills. I can confidently and professionally work to tight deadlines through the excellent organisational skills I have developed.

Skills

Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator CS5, Microsoft Office 2010, I am able to use both Windows and Macintosh computers., Mood/trend boards, Trend research, Shima Seiki programming, Brother and Pfaff domestic knitting machines, From Aug 2008 to 09 I took a career break and working holiday, which involved travel to South East Asia, Australia, New Zealand and China and Hong Kong. I was interested in looking at temples, sculptures, gardens, markets and everyday work settings of the local people and relating this experience to the cultures and philosophies which lie behind their creativity., In my spare time I regularly visit galleries and exhibitions and attend craft workshops including jewellery making and ceramics. I follow current trends and fashions by reading various industry based journals and visiting trade shows. I have a keen interest in digital and conventional photography using an SLR camera.

Sector Experience

May 2012, Pretties Zine, Styling collaboration and production of a zine. Working with stylist Samantha Barker and photographer Elly Lucas this project used my wallpapers as a back drop with printed designs and felted fabrics as ruffs Barker styled my work using Victorian ruffs as inspiration., Dec 2011, Styling collaboration, This was collaboration with photographer Tom Martin and stylist Samantha Barker using the title of 'Faded Grandeur' to style my printed wallpapers and a model in vintage garments to set the scene., Giving the Eye., A live project and part of a series of events to support the Anne Collier and Jack Goldstein exhibition at Nottingham Contemporary. This was a collaboration with choreographer Nicola Conibere. I was part of a small team that developed ideas for the dance through workshop and a blog and created a publication for the event.
