About me

To whom it may concern,

I write with great interest in response to the vacancy of Junior Project Manager, as advertised on your website's jobs page.

I would be delighted to have the opportunity to demonstrate and apply my proven project management knowledge and skills. By working in project planning roles for the last four years, including during my current position at Cancer Research UK as Executive Project Manager, I've established very strong verbal communication and organisational skills, with a proven ability to work well with a range of stakeholders, often on several projects simultaneously. This leads me to believe I can successfully fill this position.

During my time at CRUK, I've served as a primary client and team contact whilst also managing a small team to deliver Cancer Research UK's first organisation-wide recognition scheme, and later their inaugural annual award ceremony. This was a great triumph for the charity as CRUK had never previously provided a scheme and charity-wide event for their staff before, being such a large national charity with many regionally based employees.

One of the projects key successes was ensuring the online application for the scheme benefitted from a user-centred design process. My job was to ensure that the experience of the recognition web pages was a good one, and that all our messaging joined together to form a useful, consistent and enjoyable experience in a clear and interesting way. As a result, the scheme's recognition web-pages received the highest numbers of clicks ever experienced by the charity since its intranet was implemented in 2010.

As my ambition is to transition over to work in a web-based environment, I've proactively pursued my own personal development by gaining key digital skills beyond my role as Executive Project Manager. For example, enrolling myself onto a web design course to gain invaluable coding skills in HTML5 and CSS, as well as proactively signing onto online courses to learn more about SEO, Google Analytics. and the importance of UX design through deliverables like personas, sitemaps and wireframes. I've also taken it upon myself to learn more about Agile processes by reaching out to Scrum Leads at CRUK and observing scrums in an Agile environment.

Overall, with my proven ability to produce and deliver projects on time and to user needs, along with my project management experience, and drive to familiarise myself in key digital functions, I believe I possess the appropriate skills set outlined in the person specification for this Junior Project Manager role.

I am available to start within one months notice.

Thank you for your time reviewing my CV and covering letter. I welcome the opportunity to discuss in a personal interview my qualifications and fit for the position. Feel free to reach me at at your earliest convenience.

Yours faithfully,

Louise Geoghegan
