Dear Sir/Madam
My name is Louise Burton and, after applying on the Next Careers website, I attended an interview for the available Retoucher role on 21st August. I was invited back for a second assessment, but was unable to attend for reasons I could not control. I would like to re-apply for this role, as I am still very much interested in it.
I have recently completed my notice period at my previous employment and am able to start as soon as possible. My previous position was as Senior Photographer at Bubbles Portraits, a newborn and family portrait studio in Rickmansworth. I carried out the majority of photo shoots at this studio which included newborn, child, family and cake smash shoots. I have previously been senior photographer at Hyatt Studios in Tring and, because of these two positions, my talent for portrait photography has grown and improved immensely. I have also graduated from university with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Photography, which I am extremely proud of and this has certainly helped with my career progression.
Although I love photography, I feel that I have reached a stage where I want to explore different aspects of it and turn my hand to something new. I am interested in the Retoucher vacancy you are advertising as retouching is something I also enjoy. As Senior Photographer at Bubbles, I was also responsible for the retouching and printing of customer orders. I always remain calm under pressure and I am very good at working to deadlines. I am very confident with Photoshop CS5, which I use on a daily basis. The main aspects of an image I retouch regularly are smoothing of the skin and removing blemishes, cleaning of the background, colour correction, and contrast. I am also confident in producing composite images if customers like different parts of several images.
Prior to achieving my senior photographer positions, I have had many valuable photographic work experiences in professional environments. From assisting both individual and studio photographers, to photographing in the photographers pit at London Fashion weekend, I have learnt a lot about different styles of portrait and fashion photography.
