LOBO New York

ABOUT

Lobo and BBDO NY joined Autism Speaks, an advocacy organisation in the United States that sponsors research and awareness activities, and the Ad Council in a campaign to help parents identify signs of autism in their children.

The centerpiece of the campaign is a 1-minute film based on firsthand accounts from Jacob, an 11-year boy who was diagnosed with autism when he was 3. To transform his personal experiences into something universally relatable we chose the animation route, using symbolic language and visual abstraction to create a fablelike ambience capable of communicating very real, recognizable symptoms.

Since our goal was to create a fantasy world grounded in reality, we decided to build all settings as actual scale models in our studio. Apart from the animated characters, which were created in CG, everything you see in the film is real miniature objects, a combination of fabricated props and natural materials that give the spot a tactile, handcrafted feel.
