About me
i attended the savannah college of art and design not because it was nationally known, but
because of its hands-on mentality. when i graduate, i will have done 3 internships, worked
with 3 companies for 3 months each, and participated in countless design challenges. scad has
classes only 4 days a week because the professors say, 'okay, now go make an app before next
week.' no instructions, no parameters, just go make an app. and i thrive in that environment. it
is no one's fault but my own if it does not get done, so i walk out of class and go straight to
the library and learn everything i possibly can. so even before i graduate, i will have already had
4 years of experience working in a deadline, self-motivated culture. another invaluable aspect
of my education was the amount of collaborative work i got to do at scadPro. scadPro is a
department in which companies such as ford or google come and work on a 10 week long
design project with students who are selected for their outstanding skills and academic
performance. as with any design project, the more perspectives and varied ideas you can have
the better and more full the result will be. so the students selected from these projects are
not just ux majors, they are sound design, they are motion media, and they are advertising. and
this gave me so many insights into different ways of problem solving i would have never gained
just working on projects on my own.
