About me

To whom it may concern,

Having seen details of vacancy for Creative Artworker I would like to apply for the position. Graduating from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2009 I am eager to find work, within a creative environment. Immersed for four years within the ethos of the Slade, I'm now able to perpetually produce designs and conceptual ideas. I believe these abilities are easily transferable to the role Creative Artworker which I wish to pursue professionally.

I'm primarily a visual person, with a strong sense of colour, form and text. A role in graphic design could provide a natural progression into a professional environment, where my creative abilities and experience with the manipulation of images and text could be quickly utilised. I have a great passion for image and graphics, having drawn since both. I have a trained eye for both colour and composition. In my creative practice I've used elements of graphic design to both help me theorise and produce artwork. A distinct graphic element exists through all my artwork, both 2D and 3D. From sketches to documentation, the use of Adobe Photoshop was necessary in order to bring clarity and professionalism to my artwork. I also have personal experience in marketing both my own artwork and others through numerous online channels.

Over the last four years at the Slade, I developed a number of personal and professional skills. Firstly, in order to convert my often abstract ideas into a tangible reality, I feel I've learnt discipline and focus. I have brilliant communication skills, which are absolutely necessary when presenting my own work in a highly critical and analytical environment. Regular critiques and seminar taught me how attention to detail and quality were crucial to receive positive reactions and productive feedback. Forward planning and organisation were also essential. Within a flexible studio based environment, constantly around other students and tutors, time management skills became essential. Through my degree course, I became self-reliant, using my initiative to set and achieve my own objectives. I believe my time at UCL at one of the most highly regarded art schools, has taught me not just analytical and academic skills but practically how to operate as an individual, how to love the implementation of ideas and how to think autonomously.

Thank you for your time and patience.

Yours faithfully,

Lewis Fox.
