About me

I am a recent graduate, gaining a 2:1 in Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Contemporary Art Practices at Leeds Metropolitan University. I take an active and lively interest in art, popular culture, fashion, illustration and graphic design. I have a full time post within graphic design, as well as developing my freelance work and working in any other spare time on installation art in a small studio in my garden. I see art and design as a combination of conveying my feelings and thinking on things while incorporating the clients vision and creating a product to exceed the their expectations. For me these ideas permeate my world wherever I am and whatever I am doing.

I am seeking a post within your company and see myself in a strong place for the design intern position. I would like the opportunity to expand my experience and to work with your team in industry gaining more experience and both seriously contributing and learning in a different environment.

The scope of my experience includes my time on courses. Also my time spent working freelance has seen me gain clients all over the world including Sony BMG as a freelance T-shirt designer, creating shirts for acts such as Bob Dylan, Debbie Harry, The Strokes and many more. This has given me experience working with licensed products and style guides. The role is dependent on my initiative, with me being a self starter and working to demanding deadlines for clients who expect quality.
I am currently also working for the iDesignGroup based in Southport which I have done for the past 6 months, which has helped me develop my understanding of communicating with different clientele. This is a job which greatly relies on my ability to use my own initiative within a designing role, communicating as part of a team, within meetings, and listening to what the client wants and designing from there. As well as developing and maintaining these relationships with customers I very much enjoy the challenge of an exciting, fast paced environment.

I am proficient in Adobe design packages up to CS5, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign as well as a working knowledge of Dreamweaver and Flash as well as HTML and CSS knowledge.

I hope to capitalise on this experience as well as my previous jobs to which I have always brought hard work and commitment too. I thrive on challenges and would spend the time and effort it takes to succeed. I also believe that I have a high level of enthusiasm that you would be looking for and hope that this would be of benefit to your company. I would be able to start the position almost immediately.
