About me
As a design student I have conducted research, sketched creative concepts, developed ideas using CAD software and produced prototypes using the university's in house Rapid Manufacture machines. During the final year I studied a ‘Design for Manufacture' module which provided a good understanding of the principles to be considered and necessary to design a successful product for manufacture, including costing, robust design, design for assembly, materials and manufacturing techniques. During a 12 month work placement I gained invaluable experience in the design process and the role of a designer within a company. I was involved in the design of new products from initial concept through to final production. During the placement I presented innovative ideas to company directors using computer based illustrations, presentation boards and PowerPoint.
