About me
As a leading hair and beauty company, dedicated to connecting customers with high quality hair pieces and wigs through sparkling prose and exhilarating copy, I expect you are looking for an candidate who is creative enough to bring brands to life, but also able to thrive under pressure, work to deadlines and remain enthusiastic and passionate.
As an avid fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogger with experience working for both national publications and a smaller online start up magazine, I can offer you exactly that.
Whilst studying for my degree at City University London, my appetite for journalism has been unyielding; this is reflected by projects throughout school and university life. I was successful, after undergoing a competitive interview process, in becoming one of five editors of my Secondary school's long running publication, 'The Arrow'. Other responsibilities included my 'Street Style' look book photographed during my lunch hour; the finished product made eating my lunch incognito during lessons completely worthwhile!
My educational background has prepared me for the role of a copywriter. In particular, my study of law has given me a solid background in research (I will have no problem sourcing pictures) and fantastic written communication, so I will be able to create stimulating creative content to engage our consumers.
After graduating, I went on to do work experience at Bauer media's Heat magazine; I worked on the fashion and beauty desk alongside the senior fashion editors. My writing was published online on the Heat world website and I also gained experience in dealing with PR's (calling in samples), researching for articles, as well as picture research and transcribing interviews. This placement also greatly developed my admin skills and ability to prioritise work and complete any important task at hand both efficiently and to a high standard.
I then undertook a four month long internship with online magazine Ethical Hedonist, being mentored by Alison Jane Reid, leading feature writer who has worked for titles such as The Times, You magazine and The Lady. Her guidance gave me invaluable experience and I feel greatly improved my writing skills and confidence.
Many of my features were published online and can be viewed at: .
I have exceptional writing and editing skills; having already edited a monthly magazine I am familiar with proofreading, word cutting and fact checking. I can carry out Internet research with ease and implement all of the above skills when religiously updating my fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog:
My dream job is to be a leading fashion and beauty writer, with my own column in a national newspaper or magazine. Whether I'm brainstorming looks in my scrapbook or forecasting trends, my passion for fashion (excuse the cliché) is always at the forefront of my mind. With this in mind, I feel that I would be able to excel in this position as my passion for beauty will enhance and shine through in my writing.
I feel this is an unrivalled opportunity to kick start my career; I am itching to put my skills into action and be part of the team that makes this online deal sight so successful.
I am conscientious, thorough and attentive, giving my all in everything I do; I am just as happy undertaking mundane tasks as more exhilarating ones since in my view, any assignment related to the field of publications is a learning curve towards the position I aspire to reach eventually. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
