Job ref: RM02 Junior Designer

I think that I would be suited to such a position as the one advertised due to my passion for design, which is reflected in my education choices and career. I have recently completed my degree in Theatre, Performance and Event Design at Birmingham City University where I achieved a 2:1 grade. During my studies I tried to explore a variety of designs, where I had to work to deadlines, I did this whilst regularly juggling my part time job and any work placements I have been on all at the same time, I feel that I am an organized person which enabled me to do all these things. I have worked as part of a team on many occasions, I enjoy team work and work very well with others, I like to work as part of a team in design as the outcomes that can be achieved as a collaborative can be very exciting.

I am confident using computers in general and learn new software easily and I regularly use computer-aided design to assist my work. On my final project at university I explored museum design where I produced extensive designs with CAD, this project appealed to my interests and skills. I use adobe software including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. I am also familiar with video editing software. I enjoy design for various spaces for different purposes, temporary or permanent, designing to diverse briefs is something I find very exciting. I also regularly used model making to express ideas and concepts in projects, I really enjoyed model making, as I feel it adds a physical element and almost brings designs to life. I took pride in producing models and tried to make them as detailed as possible.

After working on various placements I have had the opportunity to see a design realized into a space and the reactions from audiences and love this part of the process. I currently volunteer at The Public Art Gallery at West Bromwich as part of the Exhibitions production team where I assist with many tasks at the gallery from installation of exhibitions to setting up workshops.

I also work part time at ASDA giving me valuable experience in customer services and sales experience.
