About me

In a world where the roles and ideas of what a User Experience designer does is evolving rapidly, I consider myself, at my core, a strategist and a problem solver. I am most comfortable at the early stages of a project, and enjoy the challenge of applying my design thinking skills at the hairiest of problems - whether they result in a digital product, a workflow or process change, or something else all-together. My strengths are in design thinking methodologies, user research, information architecture design, content strategy, and consistent UX pattern application.

I believe that strong User Experience understanding is critical at every step of the process, and I enjoy working with the range of roles that that belief exposes me to. Business owners, software engineers, sales and marketing experts, researchers, other designers, and especially the people for whom we design, all require different skills and levels of communication to effectively work together. In my experience trust and a willingness to collaborate and empathize is key.

I have an optimistic can-do attitude and enjoy taking on new challenges. In my career I've tested my limits in working with a wide range of colleagues of varying nationalities and work practices, products spanning languages that I could never speak, end users with jobs or lifestyles that I will never be - subsea engineers working on offshore oil rigs to Australian energy traders to Thai youth to Chinese family travelers looking to make the most out of Golden week... Throughout all of these varied experiences my philosophy is that I don't have to be an expert in what my user does, I simply need to be an expert in understanding the tools of my trade and how to extract the right information from my SMEs to design excellent products that truly meet our user's needs!

I'm interested in working at a company that values personal growth, tackling hard problems, making a positive impact on the world, and where we all recognize that only by working together can we achieve great things.

I'm comfortable in ambiguity, always believe that there is more to learn, and I'm looking forward to seeing where my next role takes me.
