Dear Sir or Madam,
I am a trained journalist working as a features editor for three magazines in Yorkshire and I am seeking a new challenge. I noticed your request for a greetings cards editor and, after reading through the job description, I feel I would be an ideal candidate for this role.
Having written for lifestyle magazines for four years, I am confident enough in my writing ability to be able to write for a whole new audience. As features editor, I manage the editorial department, ensuring that content supplied by contributors is in on time and meets the house style of the magazines. I have built strong relationships with colleagues and contributors, generate effective article ideas and sub-edit each publication. I have developed editorial and organisational skills that have proven essential in the production of each publication I work on, from the initial editorial planning meeting through to print day. I can effectively organise the team and my role has provided me with editorial and leadership abilities that I can bring to the greetings cards industry.
I would relish the opportunity to provide assistance to the editorial team, and I am eager to undertake a new role. I feel I could be an asset and I would very much like to take on such a diverse editorial position.
