Dear whomever this may concern,

I wish to apply for the role of Copywriter. As someone who has recently left an online copywriting position, I believe I am a good candidate for the position.

My most recent permanent role was that of editor and copywriter for Daily News Service, where my main duty was to write news stories that would work for our online readership. This meant I needed to source and write daily content for the site, as well as frequently update the social media channels, ensuring the brand tone was matched across all platforms. Using my excellent knowledge of writing for online, I worked alongside a team of other writers to ensure the content was as high quality as possible in order to drive traffic to our site.

This role also required me to proofread and sub-edit copy, before uploading that copy onto our CMS system. I needed to utilise my excellent eye for detail and to be able to edit work to better suit our audience and tone. This side to the role involved ensuring all copy was as web-friendly as possible, by ensuring key words were being used efficiently, SEO was being exploited and headlines were as attention-grabbing as possible. Throughout this very varied role, I learnt to prioritise a very heavy workload and ensure all tasks were carried out in a timely and efficient manner.

Most recently, I undertook a temporary copywriting position with bathstore, where my main duty was to compile product descriptions for the new stock being added to the site. This involved me undertaking my own research and liaising with product managers to ensure copy was accurate. I needed to follow the very specific bathstore guidelines when writing the copy, as well as implementing SEO tactics. I was then required to upload the copy to the CMS system, ensuring key words and Meta descriptions were being used efficiently.

Last year I finished studying Magazine Journalism and Feature writing in Southampton Solent University, during which I spent much of my time working as a freelance writer for various websites. This, along with various work experience placements across different media platforms including the Telegraph Media Group, has given me invaluable experience in copywriting, which has made me a very versatile writer who is confident in writing across a broad range of topics and platforms.

I am an enthusiastic, hard-working and fast-learning individual and I feel I would be a very valuable addition to your company.
