About me

Since joining Maverick Magazine early 2007 I have learnt many different aspects of running a small business, and have progressed in that time from completing daily administrative tasks through to management, leading the magazine into a digital and fresh format. My ability to adopt new ideas and approaches to design has improved the magazine substantially and I have full working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop along with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and mass email systems. I have managed customer relationships, changed the image of the magazine, completed face-to-face interviews with artists, and am responsible for other members of the team.
I am now also a commissioned freelance designer for artists and contacts of Maverick Magazine and have gained many contracts of my own. I have taken responsibility for bringing students into the business on work experience placements and have also worked with the MEBP (Medway Education and Business Partnership) assisting with business partnership days at various schools. I am very interested in staying in this line of business but furthering my abilities and technical knowledge of design in all aspects, not just print. With the magazine I also developed a brand new website to hone in on the fresh cover and design ideas adopted in print and launched a digital edition of the magazine, that has been a success in the current economy, offering the magazine at a cheaper subscription rate.
