My name is Kosh Kar, and I am graduate from the university of Edinburgh, where I gain my Masters in Architectural Design. I am writing to you in application for your full time post as a project designer for Merlin Entertainments.

From my six years of architectural education, I feel my creativity and inventiveness has been honed, not only through the design of buildings, but through experimentation with graphics, materials, and projects that have allowed me to take a brief and produce inventive, exciting and new ways to approach subjects that diversify in scale from a piece of furniture through to the city as a whole.

Many of these projects were group based; an environment in which I thrive and in which I always endeavour to take a leadership role. These skills were used by the universitys architecture society, in making me head of the design team. In this role I conceived and implemented an annual project; EUSAS Design Day. The aim of Design Day 2011 was to bring together all ages and disciplines of the creative forces in Edinburgh for one day to produce film parodies of popular music videos, utilizing our collective creative knowledge, while at the same time ensuring the integral nature of both our creative educations and the city in which we live.

By first acknowledging the available skills that our groups had; be it experience with photography, graphic design, film recording and editing, four films were conceived, filmed, edited and shown in one day, with a prize-giving ceremony in the evening.

Recently I have taken part in a project in Hackney Wick, north London called Folly For a Flyover. The project; in place until September is situated under the A12 hosts nightly cinema showings, and community projects ranging from morning yoga classes and boat trips up the adjoining canal, to events such as BMX stunt shows. This temporary project has become an area where the families of Hackney Wick can come, relax and experience events that normally would not be available to them in this area. This culminated in Folly for a Flyovers participation in the Hackney WickED festival in July.

I am very familiar with Merlin Entertainment, Madame Tussards and its other elements such as Lego Land, and feel I would thrive in this environment.

My experiences in architecture have made me very confident in producing well-honed presentations, and dedication to my work. I am extremely confident in VectorWorks, SketchUp, the Adobe and Office Suites; including Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator, as well as freehand drawing and modelling.

From my time working in architectural firms I am experienced in dealing with contractors, be it lighting design, construction, or bespoke firms.

I feel that I thrive in the creative environment and am looking for a full time post within Merlin Entertainments to bring my energy, excitement and creativity to your team.
