About me

After 12 years of living in Hay-on-Wye, I still love the town and the area. I am writing for three national magazines, and year-round for Hay Festival as a freelance writer and editor. I also chair some events during the annual literary event.
My most recent achievement was contributing 12,000 words to a book about Irish food, 'The Irish Bakery', interviewing artisan producers all over Ireland. I am now working on a second book with photographer Andrew Montgomery.
In my free time I am a Director of Hay Tourist Information Bureau, which enables me to be an ambassador for all that is wonderful about Hay. I also volunteer at Hay Castle, former residence of Richard Booth, who started the world's first booktown in the 1960s. I am a member of Hay Chamber of Commerce and enjoy learning about the opportunities ans challenges facing businesses in the town.
I belong to a local book group, to Hay Walkers, and to a conservation group that looks after nature in the graveyard of a local church.
I am still working on a non-fiction book about an Irish romantic who left Ireland after the Second World War, "in search of adventure and a wife". Any agents out there who might give me a reason to continue
