About me

I am a third year Media Production student who is currently studying in the University of Sunderland. From my previous experiences, I have participated in Bright Roving Annoying Teens (BRATs) that allowed me to learn the basics of the broadcast field including interview techniques, producing, editing videos, and writing articles. I am keen to learn more about the industry and continue to volunteer as much as I can both in TV, including the BBC Academy's Digital Cities North East - where I learnt more about filming on the mobile phone and Spark radio station where I learnt audio techniques.

Besides, my internship at R.AGE, The Star Newspaper, gave me the chance to work cooperatively with other members of their production team in a pressurised environment. I was given the responsibility of being the production assistant during the #StandTogether Campaign where I was in charge of setting up shoots and transferring equipment while members of the team travelled across schools to film celebrities such as Harith Iskandar, crowned the World's Funniest Man Alive in 2016, who addressed the students on the subject of being kind to others while simultaneously raising awareness about bullying in schools. Communicating and asking questions during my internship at R.AGE allowed me to interview students by understanding body language, empathising with the interviewee and also summarising their answers.

I have had experience working on a Youtube platform, collaborating and liaising with Youtuber, Daiyan Trisha by discussing talent options and concepts. As a novice, I had to create the script, produce, direct, film and edit the video on my own. Experiences like being tasked with completing two video editing assignments - one of which was a thirty-minute short film, a trailer and three reports, one of them being creating a programme for radio - all in a span of three weeks have trained me to work in a fast paced environment as well as have good time management skills. Where I had to prioritise the most important assignments

I am keen in this opportunity because I will be able to go behind the scenes and get a real understanding of the media industry, particularly in post production. It is such an interesting area that offers such unique styles to serve both niche and broad audiences. Which is why I chose this path as I wanted to tell stories in a medium that can be visually enticing; where editing can allow the audience to connect emotionally and grow with the characters. The best part of it all, a programme or video can ignite conversations and help people empathise and be more socially aware. I find editing to be extremely satisfying as there is nothing like piecing together a story through visuals. I want to involved in the technical process and learning as much as I can in a production. I know that being in a production is a complex process but I am keen to contribute to what goes behind the scenes and learn more about the technical process of it. Not only that, it will also allow me to have greater tutelage, knowledge and discipline in this particular field.
