Dear Recruitment Dept.,
I am a recent graduate of the University of Nottingham with a first degree in BA (Hons) Creative and Professional Writing. I am writing this to apply for the copywriting role I found advertised because I think I am a good fit for you being able to write to a high standard, being academic and hardworking.
I have had paid professional copywriting work which I learnt SEO techniques, effective creative writing and used a CMS system. I have also had freelance project work using copywriting skills which have been paid and voluntary. A lot of good reviews of my work can be seen on my LinkedIn account.
My degree taught me how to communicate effectively, orally and using the written word. We had extensive modules of professional aspects of communication, publishing and editing as well as using our creative side.
I have used both Google Analytics and Hootsuite and am efficient in both, as well as having experience in managing accounts on most social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Instagram.
During my degree I learnt advanced skills in WordPress and Microsoft Office software, as well as skills in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign and Photoshop. I am extremely proactive and like to show initiative. While in my A Level studies I actually taught myself HTML.
I am proactive and hardworking, able to deal with deadlines and organising different priorities at once. Evidence of this is my leading role in project managing the publication and marketing and sales of a student anthology. I have had experience proofreading and editing while leading my student anthology and organising its book launch. I had to send out emails to call for submissions, acceptance and rejection letters and editorial suggestions. Learning how to do this with a good tone so everyone worked well together was a good experience for me. I then collated and organised the submissions.
I used these skills in an internship with Nottingham Writer's Studio where I collated and created different resources and used the website to upload them to the web.
I know I can provide great support to your team because I am proactive as well as organised and meticulous. I love working with people when I need to and am a friendly and enthusiastic team member. Being a freelance writer and copywriter has taught me how to work independently as well as manage my time and solve problems on my own.
From my humanities background in my A levels, through to my degree and work experience I have shown a love of communication and a good attention to detail.
