About me

I am a creative and enthusiastic designer and artworker with three
years experience in the design industry, in both studio and inhouse
environments, who is now looking for a new exciting role based in
London, that I can really shine in and utilise my skills to the best of
my abilities.

For the past year I have been the sole designer at a new bi-monthly
environmental magazine, developing a coherent and consistent feel to
the magazine, increasing the circulation to 30,000. My main duties were
to produce the layout of the magazine, liaise with clients regarding
advertising artwork, and work with the clients to produce adverts for
them if needed, which demonstrates my ability to work closely with a
client and to put together a brief that takes into consideration the
target audience, as well as any constraints or requirements the client
may have. I had to produce the magazine to pass4press standards and
send to the printer, as well as maintaining the company website and
uploading the online version of the magazine.

The enthusiastic response to the design of the magazine has led to
more varied client work, allowing me to work on websites one day, and
corporate branding the next. The chance to work in different formats,
on different briefs is something I have always relished, and enables me
to stretch my creative muscles.

Being the sole designer of a bi-monthly magazine required a lot of
multi-tasking and time management skills. With a strict print date
always looming, the ability to work to tight deadlines was key, as well
as prioritising work, and the fact that the magazine never missed a
deadline is testament to my time management skills.

In my previous role as Artworker for The Yes Agency I had the
opportunity to work on a variety of different materials, from small
material such as logo design, stationary and leaflets through to large
scale material such as exhibition stands and banners. The majority of
clients at The Yes Agency were large companies such as JCB, UK Trade
and Investment and Ciba, who all had very strong corporate branding, so
I am very comfortable in working to strict corporate guidelines and
relish the chance to work to these guidelines and help produce new work
with the same recognisable qualities.

In my three years experience in the design industry I have worked
solely, and also closely with small to medium sized groups of
colleagues. In my first two roles I would take initial scamps from
Creative Directors and Copywriters and work closely with them to
artwork the project through to the print ready stages. I also got the
chance to work with some great people, where we could exchange tips and
work seamlessly on briefs together.
During my last three years in the industry, and the years at
university studying Graphic Design before that, I believe I have
developed strong technical skills. I am confident in producing printed
materials to pass4press specifications and sending them to print, which
I believe I have demonstrated in the past by sending a 100+ page
magazine to print on a bi-monthly basis, as well as producing a range
of artwork which included cutters and spot varnishes. I am confident in
retouching images, colour correction and producing clipping paths and
making sure images and artwork are correct for both web and print.

I am proficient in QuarkXpress, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and
Dreamweaver and have a great knowledge, and even greater love, of print
design.
