UK based Graphic Designer with a Bachelors degree in Graphic Design and several years experience within large design agencies.
I am in the business of solving problems. Whilst design is typically making something that looks good, it should first be to solve a problem. Because designing for the sake of it isn't a good return on investment for your business.
Some of the more common problems I solve are things such as;

- Promote a certain item/service
