About me

For the past 18 months I have been freelancing for various design
groups and publishers. Working on a wide variety of briefs, from
magazine pitch work for Stream Publishing, in helping them to retain
the Vauxhall Magazine to producing a selection of brochure and
corporate identity work for RBS, Kimberly-Clarke and Crawley Borough
Council.

Previous to my freelance work I worked for eight years at

the Brooklands Group, starting as Art Editor working on two

automotive titles, Renault Magazine and Hyundai Magazine.

Alongside the magazine work and because of my background

we were also able to offer various bespoke design projects from F1
invites, website design, new product launch brochures and sales
literature. The Renault Magazine won ‘Best Automotive
Title' at the 2004 APA awards.

I was also instrumental in the launch of a series of newsstand

titles. Initially launching with everything France magazine,

closely followed with everything Spain and everything America.

After winning several pitches for C4 including A Place in the

Sun Magazine, Location Location Location Magazine,

You are What you Eat Magazine and Supernanny Magazine,

I was promoted to Creative Director.

As well as overseeing the work of some 12 Art Editors,

I continued to be involved with the development of existing

and new magazines, and won a 4-way pitch to produce

V Magazine for Vauxhall Motors.

The most challenging of these being Freedom and Dodge

Magazines for the Chrysler Group. We presented our initial

designs to our US partners, Meredith Publishing; it took a high

degree of delegation to ensure the designs we produced and were

confident in, were not diluted in any way. The premise being

that content from the Meredith US version would be shared

with our content from Europe. The designs were then presented

to the Chrysler Group in which we won a 3-way pitch. This

continued to be a challenging brief having had to produce a

single magazine encompassing three brands - Chrysler, Jeep
and

Dodge - in 16 languages.

Away from magazine design and development I also created

the visual communication for A Place in the Sun Live! the

UK's largest overseas property exhibition. The exhibition,

being launched off the back of the successful TV programme

and magazine. Co-ordinating some sixty different items from

advertising, show guides, tickets, visitor leaflets, sponsorship

brochures etc. takes huge logistical planning and direction.

I am fully conversant with the Adobe CS suite of programs.
