About me

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to apply for the role you have advertised.

I have a lot of experience writing. I have a BA in Creative Writing and have written for various minor publications.

I have written for The Daily Mirror's celeb page via their website. I currently write book reviews for Maximum Pop.

While at university I wrote for the university magazine and became News and Politics sub editor. I also became involved in the University's student radio station. I co-hosted a show called "Guilty Pleasures" it was a pop culture show. It won an award for "Best Entertainment show" at the Student Union awards. I later became Marketing and Advertising manager for the station.

This role involved writing press releases, scheduling interviews for shows, maintaining the show schedule and liaising with staff and at the university about where we could broadcast. I organised a few live broadcasts in the atrium of the main building, I also organised a 24 hour radio-athon to raise the profile of the station and to raise money for the charity Barnado's.

My next role was as the Co -Editor of an online magazine. This role was performing all the PA functions needed to keep the magazine running. I held this role for over two years From answering queries from readers, updating social media; liaising with contributors and organising photo shoots, interviews; to paying photographers and writing bids for funding applications. I also edited submissions before they were published.

Before I went to University I was fortunate enough to do an Internship in the Legal department at The Walt Disney Company. During my time on there I assisted the department in preparing for and attending collective bargaining negotiations. Prepared deal memos and correspondence for above-the-line talent; reviewed, analysed and summarized entertainment contracts related to the production of motion pictures; researched rights/obligations and other contractual issues; observed contract negotiations; updated comprehensive reports; and various special projects as needed. This internship taught my extensive and in-depth knowledge of Contract law.

I am currently a Youth Dance Ambassador at The Lowry Theatre. This involves working with young people to market the Lowry's dance programme. I update social media; liaise with staff on all levels at various well known dance companies. Arrange and conduct interviews with dancers/choreographers and other industry professionals.

In my spare time I help one of my friends run time a cyber bullying awareness campaign for the fan base of a very prominent band on various social networking sites. Since its inception in January 2015 it has gained over 75,000 followers and it continues to rise every day.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

Kelly McFarland.
