About me

I was born in Japan and have loved craft and drawing since my childhood.

At high school, I studied ceramic art and industrial design in the famous pottery town Arita, Japan and I graduated with a BA:Graphic Media Design: Illustration course at London College of Communication, University of the Arts London.

Next month my illustration work for a children's book called 'Kakemeguru ~Galloping around~' will be published in Japan, which is a story about horse and traditional Japanese culture of horseback archery, as part of a crowdfunding project to create awareness and to save retired racehorses from inhumane slaughter. It is a very successful project!

I worked at Whole Foods Market as a graphic artist to make seasonal chalk signs and posters for the store in Richmond. While working at Whole Foods Market part time, I also worked as an illustrator and designer for the film [Isle of dogs] by Wes Anderson to make a background film setting. In addition I have also worked for Yoga Magazine which is published in the UK and USA, where I illustrated articles about rituals, the environment and holistic health.

Apart from my job as an illustrator, I have been teaching yoga and meditation in the UK and Japan via the internet using my own illustrating work to explain concepts of holistic yoga.

I love travelling and I have visited over 30 countries, always carrying my sketchbook to illustrate my travel experiences.

My illustration style is detailed hand drawing style using ink, watercolour and colour pencil. I sometimes use paper-cutting techniques for illustration depending on the situation.
