About me

After studying Photography I have gained a large amount of knowledge and passion for the subject. I have in-depth knowledge of the history of photography, from how it was first used as a drawing tool by artists to the advances in technology, making it easy and accessible to a wider range of people.

I work and teach in both digital and traditional film photography, making me aware of the constantly changing trends within the industry.

I volunteer at West Herts College as a Teaching Assistant within their well established Photography department. During this time I have gained experience in teaching the very basics, from how to load film, to the more advanced, including using large format cameras and studio lighting. I work closely with the tutors, assisting in the students learning and progress. I have also worked closely with the colleges Photographic Technician, mixing the darkroom chemicals, explaining how to use resources and being partly responsible for the hand out and collection of equipment.

I love travelling and experiencing new cultures, new foods, ways of life and seeing new landscapes. Photography is my way of not only recording these places and experiences for myself, but for visually sharing them with other people, potentially encouraging them to also visit. I have travelled to Cuba, New Zealand, Italy and India within the last few years.

During my visit to India and further to my voluntary work in West Herts College, I worked with a charity on a project teaching young adults in an orphanage photography, from the very basics of using a camera to more advanced techniques of framing and composition within the lens and how using image can reflect on how you feel and see the world.

During the completion of my degree, I partook in a group exhibition in Golden Square, Soho. I assisted in the planning and curating of the exhibition, attending meetings with the charity CentrePoint, with whom we collaborated, to raise awareness of homelessness in the capital.

Whilst working with the students at West Herts College, I contacted the local council regarding space available for students to exhibit there end of year work, through my conversations with them I was invited to join a collaboration of local artists and council representatives to organise exhibitions of local artwork in the community.

We currently have our second exhibition running in Watford town centre.

Working as part of a team, both at university and in my work with Watford council, planning exhibitions, I have had to be well organised.

Being a Photography student for the last five years, I have had extensive use and training on computers, both PC and Mac, and am able to use both confidently.
