About me

Ok, I'll get the important stuff out of the way first.

I am a recent graduate of The University of Huddersfield, where I studied BA(Hons) Interior, Exhibition and Retail Design, for which I achieved a 2:1. I'm very keen to start forging my career in the design industry. Although I'm currently living in rural Lancashire, I do NOT want to stay here! I really want to move somewhere new and finally start my life! London, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, I'll go pretty much anywhere. I love to experience new places, and I'm no stranger to uprooting and moving around.

Let's get a bit more interesting!

I like to think I'm a sociable, outgoing person who works well in a team environment. I'm very organised and I am always on time (more often than not slightly early!), both for meeting my tutors or friends and for submitting work for deadlines. I am quick to learn and pick up new skills, and I'll go over and above to achieve my full potential.

Now, even more interesting (read pointless)...

I spend way too much of my spare time painting my nails. Designs vary from angry birds to cartoon polka dots and 'wham, crash, pow', from the EDF energy flame to glitter and diamantés. I'm hoping I spelt diamanté right, because I was just about to say that I'm a freak for correct spelling and grammar! I'm the sort of person who has a really embarrassing dog voice when I talk to my labrador. And I really want to have a house rabbit one day. I'm well aware that I'm talking rubbish, but I thought I should get my personality across early! Plus I talk when I'm nervous, and I'm really nervous doing this, selling myself and my work online is pretty scary!

I'll leave it at that for now. I'm still learning how to use this site, so if I've missed anything out and you want to know more get in touch with me...if you can on here

Oh...one last thing...Carly Rae Jepson - Call Me Maybe is my song of summer 2012. I really hope you know it otherwise the gimmick on my CV and Portfolio is just going to seem a little odd!

Skills

I am confident using 3D Studio Max, SketchUp, AutoCAD, and the Adobe Creative Suite. Prior to starting my degree, as well as studying for a BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design, I also studied for a Business Skills Diploma. This not only gave me an in-depth knowledge of how to use the Microsoft Office software, but it also taught me valuable skills for working in a professional environment. , My BTEC in Art and Design covered a wide range of subjects, ranging from graphics to fine art. One of my final year modules for my degree was Professional Practice and Design Project Management. Through this I learnt how to write business letters, draw up contracts, create invoices and schedules of works. I feel that these things have all contributed greatly to my development and have helped me become a well rounded designer., I've started to teach myself how to use Vectorworks in my spare time, and I also plan to learn V-Ray.

Sector Experience

Although I currently have not had any industry experience, I am exceptionally pro-active in searching for jobs and work experience. Unfortunately as yet, nothing has paid off. If you took a chance on me I can guarantee you that I would not disappoint! I'm prepared to work as hard as it is humanly possible to ensure I work at the highest standard possible.
