PERSONAL PROFILE
A recent graduate of Psychology, I plan to build on the experiences I have gained within and outside my degree to develop a career in advertising.
EDUCATION
BA Hons Psychology 2:1, University of Sussex
Skills gained:
- A greater understanding of social interaction and people's motivations.
- Research and project management. This was through ensuring my 5,000-word thesis 'Source monitoring and the effects of accent of false memory', which led to me receiving a 1st, was researched, written and delivered on time.
- Excellent and well-tested analytical skills, developed through research projects and the ability to contribute to a team.

EXPERIENCE
Jan-March 2007 Teacher's Assistant, Cape Town (voluntary)
Duties included:
- Encouraging pupils' development by gaining ongoing trust.
- Assisting the teacher with classroom tasks.
Skills developed:
- Excellent communication through working with many different sorts of people, from children and parents to both Afrikaans and English colleagues.
- Increased interpersonal skills.

Duties included:
- Organising play activities and supervising up to 25 children with colleague.

- Increased responsibility for young children and improved organisational skills.

Duties included:
- Managing a group of five Group Leaders.
- Creating activity schedules and ensuring their smooth running.

Duties included:
- Supervising up to 12 children, between 7 and 11 years old, daily.
- Brainstorming creative ideas with team of group leaders.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Familiarity with all MS Office packages; I produced my thesis using Word, incorporating Excel and SPSS data.
- Knowledge of questionnaire-design and data collection through numerous research projects during my degree.
INTERESTS
- I am a keen reader of 'Campaign' and enjoy learning about the advertising world.
- Among my sporting interests are badminton, Pilates and salsa.
- I love to travel, and have backpacked around Australia and New Zealand, planning and organising all accommodation and transportation myself. I did a university transfer to Canada for one semester during my degree and have lived and worked in South Africa. All these experiences have widened my knowledge of different types of people which will be useful in an advertising career.
