About me

My name is Kåre Martens and I am a Norwegian graphic designer living in London.

I have worked in the design industry for seven years. I have divided these last seven years between Australia and Norway. In Sydney, I worked as a creative director at a design firm called Deepend where I worked with many of Australia's leading cultural institutions, among them The Sydney Opera House, Sydney Theatre Company and The Museum of Contemporary Art.

In Norway, I have worked as a freelancer for The Norwegian National Theatre and The Norwegian International Film Festival as well as working with numerous film production companies designing posters and animating title sequences for Scandinavian films.

Lately I have worked as a book cover designer and as an illustrator for children's books both in Norway and in Australia. I hope to do more book cover work as I find such work both creatively rewarding and conceptually stimulating.

My formal design education is from Camberwell College of Arts, London College of Printing and the University of Western Sydney where I graduated with a Master of Design (please see attached curriculum vitae for further details).

I am comfortable working in any medium; especially print but also interactive media and motion graphics. I consider myself to be a designer who focuses on strong concept formulation prior to execution of that concept.
