About me

I currently work as an Editor for a news publishing agency and most of my day is spent editing news stories that have been written by our team of writers. I must ensure that all stories issued are of the highest possible quality, being both grammatically sound and adhering to housestyles and guidelines.

In my current role I have to adhere to strict deadlines when making sure that the news goes out to clients on time. As I am home based it is completely down to me to ensure that I plan my workload for the day effectively and make sure that all my editing deadlines are met successfully.

On a daily basis I must evaluate news stories that have broken overnight and deal with those of highest priority first. I must ensure that deadlines are met for each of the company's publications and let other members of staff know what stories need to go out and when. It is my responsibility to make sure that I meet my news quotas on a daily basis and I am able to do this successfully each and every day.

I am also responsible for training new writers that join the company, giving them feedback on their writing and providing guidance regarding our housestyle. I have recently produced a detailed set of training guidelines for all new writers to help guide them through the writing process. I am also the first point of contact for all writer queries, whether this relates to grammar and sentence construction or story content and suitability.

In addition I have trained and worked as an English teacher and have an excellent understanding of language and grammar. During my time spent teaching I produced a range of teaching materials which were designed to appeal to pupils of different ages and with a variety of learning styles. I am used to producing and editing a variety of materials in order to make them suitable for a variety of audiences.
