Dear Sir or Madam,

I am pleased to submit my application for the above post as advertised on your website and have enclosed my curriculum vitae for your consideration.

I have held a long-standing interest in the creative arts and decided to embark on a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing and Drama in order to advance my understanding of the field and as a way of gaining practical experience in professional writing. The course has enhanced my ability to work as a team and has also encouraged me to communicate resourcefully with both tutors and classmates in order to reach my potential and achieve my desired goals.

I have also gained additional experience in creative writing by applying my writing skills to a student based project that allowed me to professionally explore the field of persuasive writing. The role involved promoting an exhibition using social media, direct marketing and producing copy for flyers, programmes, posters and other online material. (Please see example attached.) By writing in this particular style on a regular basis, I have discovered a range of writing techniques and skills that will allow me to accommodate a particular language style.

I have also had further experience in promotional work for a busy cocktail bar near my home town. The role required fast thinking and the ability to adopt a persuasive voice to encourage potential visitors which I feel is a skill that will enable me to both learn from, and contribute to, the advertised role. Communication skills were essential as well as the ability to use my own initiative and deal with a wide variety of people.

I feel that the skills I have acquired will be of use to the company and permit an effective contribution to the advertised role and desired requirements. The Rough Hill copywriting Internship will open many doors for my future and I look forward with anticipation to hearing from you.
