About me
Hello,
So here's a little about me, I'm about to graduate from The Sir John Cass school of art, architecture and design here in London with a BA in graphic design and I'm projected a great grade. I'm sure you've heard all of that a hundred times before from a hundred other recent graduates so here's what makes my unique: I'm driven, ambitious and I have a clear vision of what I want to achieve in life, I transferred university between my second and third years from up north to London simply because I longed for a more competitive environment and knew that London I where I wanted to be upon commencing my career.
Along with the experience that any diligent graduate can offer I personally bring a level of life and work experience unparalleled in many young graduates that I believe any company would value. I'm technically graduating university this year as a mature student. I am 25 years old and since finishing my A levels I have worked in several different industries from hospitality and catering, sales and retail. I have worked during the entirety of my degree, my work ethic wouldn't allow me to do otherwise. Hospitality and catering taught me to work as a part of a cohesive team in high pressure situations. Sales taught me self confidence and how to pitch. Retail taught me customer service and empathy. Between finishing my A levels and finishing my degree I have also travelled the world, 15 countries and counting. I lived abroad and completed two years' self funded charity work in the south pacific. I have also been a part of launching a start up company among other entrepreneurial ventures and have won a business enterprise award for innovation.
When it comes to what I have to offer your company as a designer, firstly, I have great aspirations to excel in this industry, I became aware very early on that university could only teach me so much, as a result I became and avid, independent learner, attending seminars, reading books and taking online courses. I take great pride in the design projects I have been able to secure and manage as an independent designer over the past 3 years, these experiences have taught me great lessons and i have worked with some amazing companies/ individuals. I've learned about client relationships, conducting client meetings and presenting, managing a budget, time management as well as lessons about marketing and sales. I've also been fortunate to secure and complete some great internships during my time as a student resulting in some valuable industry experience, that can often seem so elusive as a student.
All of these experiences have influenced the way i approach my work as a designer. These experiences have resulted in me being to empathise with the business side of design and being able to implement the creative side. It has influenced the way i work with and interact with colleges and clients and all for the better.
