About me

Having lived on my own in Johannesburg for the past 9 years whilst I completed my studies, I developed a strong sense of independence, awareness and problem-solving. After completing my secondary studies I chose to study a degree in law as that was my main interest at the time. However early into my years of tertiary studies, a period where one also endures through a lot of self-growth and self-discovery, I found my passions lying more in creativity and self expression. This affected my focus at university initially due to being more focused on my passions as opposed to my studies, a mistake I learnt from that was solved by better time management. Having accepted that my passions lie outside of law studies I switched my majors to a BA in Psychology and Philoshopy, as I had a strong interest in understanding the mind and it's mechanisms through psychology, whilst also understanding modern society, it's structure and it's functions, through philosophy.

My goals are thus to combine my creativity and my studies to develop innovations designed to be a vehicle towards creating social equality, as I yearn to make my positive changes in countries such as my own, Tanzania.

The more I tapped into my creativity the more I grew into it too and expressed myself through different disciplines. I started two businesses, my first, 'Swift Thrift', an online clothing store and my second one being a youth-oriented creative platform called 'Cerebral' with its driving force being to unite young artists from Johannesburg and surrounding areas through a simultaneous exhibition of varying fields of Art, mainly music, fashion & visual arts with the aim to foster a space that stimulates multiple senses. In total we hosted 10 events, showcased over 300 artists & vendors, with an average attendance of 500 people. Through my creative ventures I grew exceptional skills in brand communication, event co-ordination, experiential marketing, trend analysis, content strategy and digital marketing. Whilst also expanding my artistry into different disciplines including creative direction, fashion design & styling and music.

Though my passions are artistically driven, it is the use of my knowledge that drives my creativity and ideas, along with my strong desire to develop creative solutions for the problems we face in society, something I strongly believe to be our shared purpose as humanity. This is evident in the fact that name and identity of Cerebral is ingrained in what I learned about the cerebrum and it's hemispheres through my psychological studies at university.

Through my experience in creative ventures, in combination with my studies and personal passion, I've grown a strong passion for not only self-expression but also advertising, digital marketing and creativity designed at problem solving and spreading a message of the need for collaboration, innovation through interconnectivity. It is for this reason that after completing my undergraduate degree, I would highly like to master my craft through undertaking employment in a creative agency a masters in communication design as I look to acquire experience essential to developing the skillset required to adequately translate my ideas to life.
