Jorge's work
About Jorge
My name is Jorge Almeida and I'm a Graphic Designer since 2006
- Pre-Bologna Licenciate, by Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade
do Porto (University of Porto), Portugal.
In September of 2006, I was invited to collaborate, as an assistant
professor, with the Comunnication and Multimedia course of the
Universidade de Trás-os Montes e Alto Douro, Vila Real,
Portugal.
In 2007, still with the activity of assistant professor, I was invited
to make part of the HelenaLoboDesign,Lda team, placed in Vila Real,
Portugal. Althought the small investment of this city in new strategies
of communication, here I explored a great part of the Graphic Design
branches. I worked in visual identity, more recently in product design
- essentially linked to the wine sector - and most of all in Editorial
Design - I was responsable for the graphic conception of commercial and
institucional magazines, brochures or books. I had also the pleasure of
working with national Institutions, such as IVDP [Instituto dos Vinhos
do Douro e Porto], Direcção Regional da Cultura do Norte
or FRAH [Fundação Rei Afonso Henriques], all from
Portugal.
Also in Vila Real, I was a founding member and Graphic Designer of
Associação Espontânea, a cultural and non-profit
organization. As responsible for the graphic design of many of the
events, I explored less systematic languages. All work in this
association came to serve, as well as a learning tool, as an escape to
the institutional, more dense and stabled work, developed in Helena
Lobo Design, Lda.
In 2009 I was invited by DeMiParaSi,Lda - Events (Portugal), to work
with a new project for the Teatro Ribeiro Conceição -
Lamego theatre (Portugal). Despite the reopening of this about a year
and a half before that date, we noted a weak public support. As
Communication Designer I was responsible for the redesign of all
objects of communication, creating new ones, and even for the creation
and stabilization of new identities for other related spaces.
I think I can be a real gain to your company especially taking into
account my capacity to invest in a project, individually or in group. I
like to work as a team; try new languages that can bring new attentions
and ensure new places; and especially I like to be practical, always
trying to optimize working processes, from conceptualization, through
design and communication with the customer, till the final
production.
And yes, I love music.
