Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a skilled freelance graphic designer currently looking for new permanent opportunities. I have over 7 years experience working as a designer in the giftwear and toy industry. Working in small companies has made me a very adaptable designer. I have worked across a broad of disciplines including product design, fashion, graphics, branding and marketing. Although I have a BSc degree in Product Design most of my experience is with packaging and graphic design. Since starting freelancing I have worked as an artworker at Lidls head office producing the in-store leaflets, advertisements for daily newspapers and artworking 48 sheet billboards. I have also designed packaging style guide concepts for a Christmas giftwear range and a Grumpy Old Gits license which was recently used in Bluws 2012 Christmas pitch to Debenhams.

Throughout my career producing print ready artwork has been a part of my job. I am fully converse with the Adobe suite, examples include; using Illustrator to supply packaging to factories in China, InDesign for brochures printed in the UK for B2B trade shows and Photoshop to product artwork ready for screen printing T-shirt in the US. Designing licensed products for brands like Manchester United and Fox Entertainment has given me an in depth understanding of brand equity and the importance of style guides. With this knowledge I was able to construct cohesive branding and style guides as demonstrated with the Wetpaint clothing brand.

I am able to communicate with people at all levels of the business, whilst working at Moocow I attended a number of meetings at Spencer Gifts (large US retailer) head office. They provided us with information on market trends and predicted growth areas. I distilled the information into a brief and communicated this to the rest of the design team and then worked along side them to produce a viable pitch for new products and product ranges. From this pitch a number of Moocows best selling novelty products were developed including the Beehive inflatable wig which has now been expanded into the Airheadz range of inflatable wigs.

I have excellent time management, in my last permanent role I was responsible for a small design team and the intern program. This involved managing my own work loads while supporting more junior members of staff and making sure all project were kept on schedule.
