About me
My name's Jonathan Smith and I'm looking for opportunities to develop my portfolio and Film/TV experience. I have professional experience in & out of university in Film & TV production, Photography & Podcasting. While I write scripts and develop my short films, I do videography & cinematography for commercials with Image Cleaver, assisted sound mixing & post-production with Netflix and created & audio-engineered my own podcast about consent & sex education.
I'm incredibly passionate and have had a love for filmmaking & editing since I was in school. I taught myself how to use Premiere Pro to create short videos. It wasn't until my time in A-Levels where I made a music video based on the movie Nightcrawler that I fell in love with the editing process. It went on to be nominated at the BFI where I first got to see my work in a theatre. During my time in university, I was trained to use industry-level software; Davinci Resolve & After Effects. I was taught filmmaking, lighting and sound as well as have developed my production skills. Filmmaking is a form of self-expression and connects people in a way that enamours me. University opened the floodgates for my passion for editing & film.
To be surrounded by people with similar interests and passions is what drives me to create in this industry. Since graduating I directed, produced & post-produced two short films that went on to be nominated for short film festivals. For the past year, I have worked on commercial & short film productions as a runner, art director assistant and camera operator and I'm looking for opportunities to further expand my portfolio. From my portfolio, you can see the content I've made and the quality it is which is the same quality I can offer as an editor, camera operator & production assistant/runner. I'm always doing my best while looking to expand my skill set and I know what is required of me to succeed in these roles.
