About me

I have recently graduated from the University of Leicester, gaining a degree in Sociology. I am now looking to transfer the skills, which I learnt at University into the work place, skills such as social analysis. This analysis varied in structure, ranging from theoretical analysis to statistical analysis, both of which interlinked throughout the course. Working independently using the above factors on project based work; constantly sticking to course deadlines was a vital part of my degree and also something that I thoroughly enjoyed over the three years of my course.

While at University and after graduating, I have worked for a number of employers on short-term agency based contracts, ranging from sales at HFS Loans to HMS Style Women's Prison. I have had to adapt to each role and the different demands the position required, a task that I believe I have achieved successfully.

I currently work for PPPA Pensions, who administer all aspects of Human Resources to civilian Ministry of Defense workers. Joining a company that at the time focused on pensions, a subject I had no previous knowledge of, was a major challenge. There was an onus on picking up a strong basic level of knowledge in a short space of time and expanding of this base of knowledge through experience. I have built this knowledge and continue to learn in a constantly changing environment, due to factors such as new government legislation, relating to the retirement age.

When I joined PPPA Pension, I joined a new team with only four members. The team faced a number of new challenges when it was established, building a working relationship within the team, establishing the relatively unknown role of the team within a large organisation. I feel I have achieved this and I have also built a strong relationship with interdependent members and organisations that I deal with on a daily basis.

As I have already stated our team have had to keep in touch with government policy relating to retirement, while at the same time educating members of the pension scheme as well as new members of the team. I deal directly with incoming questions from members therefore my understanding of the rules and regulations and the way that I project this understanding is a vital part of my job.

Since leaving school I have taken on board challenges at University and within the work place, I have gained a degree and continue to perform successfully within the work place. I now hope to transfer the skills I learnt at University and in the work place within the market place, taking on new challenges and establishing myself within your company.
