Re: Creative Graphic Designer to design film posters for leading creative agency

I am writing to apply for the post of Creative Graphic Designer to design film posters for leading creative agency.

I have just graduated with a 2:1 in Graphic Communication from Bath Spa University and believe that I have been introduced to many of the skills that would make me a useful candidate for the position that you seek to fill. As a recent graduate, I am very aware of the need to develop and extend my experience in a challenging and commercially successful workplace. I am hoping that my lack of experience will be balanced against a great enthusiasm for all aspects of Design work. I set myself high standards and work hard to achieve a creditable result. I also understand the importance of deadlines.

The skills that I have learnt and developed while studying include a strong grounding in typography and typesetting, layout construction, image making and photography as well as a good understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite. Through encouragement from the Department at Bath Spa, I have been given real experience on a number of projects over the past three years. These include the creation of a poster for The Black Swan Art Gallery in Frome, a visual identity for London England Fans and advertising posters for guest lectures given at the University by Davis Pearson, Lomo Kev and Matilda Saxow. For my final degree assignment, I researched and produced a book documenting the configuration of the floodlights of the top one hundred and sixteen football clubs in England. This project serves as the perfect demonstration of all my design skills, from layout and use of high quality photography, to the commitment needed to visit and document the ground of every single club within a tight timeframe.

Since leaving University in July, I have designed new business stationery and event posters for the Rose and Crown in Warminster, a flier, business card and website for Charlton Alpacas and also some layouts for an exhibition at St Johns church in Frome.

Prior to attending University, I worked in the Hospitality Industry and then as a Dispensing Optician. I have a wide range of interests including sport, music and the outdoors.
