About me

My name's John and I'm a Graphic Designer from the north of England currently working down south in the publishing sector. I have a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from The University of Cumbria and four years experience in the magazine industry. I'm particularly familiar with our company's videogaming portfolio and have designed and in some cases written content for all gaming formats including Microsoft (PC/Xbox/360), Sony (PSP,PS2,PS3) and Nintendo (Wii/DS). My experience as an editorial designer has taken me from doing everything from designing features, covers, bags, news-stand packaging, supplements, adverts and web reskins to managing freelancers, arranging photoshoots, writing features, debating in podcasts and liaising with publishers/printers. In doing all this I'm now experienced in InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop and I've got a good working knowledge of Dreamweaver and Flash.

I'm incredibly keen to keep learning and pushing my knowledge into other areas now that I've specialised in magazines. This may include anything from web projects, to illustration, packaging, animation or photography.

I'm also keen to return to the north so will be predominantly looking for companies in and around the Manchester area.
