About me

My name is John Orton, and I am currently looking for full time work as a creative videographer in London. My notice period is two weeks with my current job, for which I live in East London, Leyton. This cover letter is to provide you an insight into my background and latest work.

I have worked closely with London based filmmaker Thomas Knights for a number of years as a videographer where we've collaborated with music artists such a Maya Jane Coles, Kim Ann Foxman and Marina & the Diamonds. Branding was a major element within these projects, as well as demonstrating new and innovative methods of filmmaking in order to showcase captivating, behind the scenes films.

The attached CV outlines my keen interest in film, photography and music, culminating in an honours degree from the University of Salford. My experiences include working at Media City in Salford with it's state of the art facilities to producing my own pieces of work with my own equipment for documentary makers, musicians, promotions, weddings and fashion designers.

In addition, the time that I have spent over the past 2 years in the retail industry, has helped in equipping me for working both independently and within a team structure in a global flagship establishment on Oxford Street. This experience at the forefront of the UK's fashion industry, has developed my knowledge of latest trends and style as well as advising me on various branding methods for maximum sales impact. In my spare time I co-run a successful music brand around the UK, where my DJ'ing has won me two competitions so far and I've performed with the likes of Rudimental, Bondax and Dusky to name a few .
