About me

As my portfolio demonstrates, I have extensive experience of producing artwork for music-related products and projects, and of working to the templates required therein. I have produced work for print (CD and vinyl packaging, posters, adverts) and digital (web/social media, pack-shots and thumbnails) applications. My work demonstrates exemplary attention to detail, and a unique artistic sensibility. I am constantly engaged in numerous creative activities, and am entirely self-motivated in my artistic work.

In producing material at the highest level for Philip Selway (Radiohead, Bella Union, Nonesuch) and for Seed Records, I have worked to a consistently high standard within the framework of tight, inflexible deadlines, and have acquired an in-depth knowledge of Photoshop as well as numerous other artworking applications.

I also have a successful track record of marketing within the music industry, attracting record company investment for my own work with the electronic music group Sleeps in Oysters, and devising a creative marketing strategy which employed limited edition packaging, a making of video, a series of promotional images adaptable to flyers, posters and electronic distribution, the use of a mailing list and targeted press coverage, resulting in our first EP selling out within six weeks. In the course of promoting this project and others I have developed a comprehensive and current knowledge of marketing practice in the arts generally, and music specifically, at a time of unprecedented and rapid change. My direct experience of marketing a musical product in this challenging environment, working with record companies, promoters and the music media equips me to contribute significantly to any organization engaging with music marketing.

Since much of my work has been produced in a freelance context, or as a part of my own multidisciplinary artistic activities, I am accustomed to taking ownership of projects and working independently.

My career as a retail manager, conducted alongside my freelance artistic work, is also testament to my excellent organisational skills. My role with Oxfam also demonstrates my ability to function to the highest professional standards in a busy and demanding environment, and in its associated administrative tasks, also necessitates meticulous attention to detail and flawless accuracy.

In addition, I have an academic grounding in contemporary music. My degree in Popular Music Studies incorporated study of the historical development of a wide range of forms and styles, as well as broad-based modules in composition, performance management, music technology and music industry law.

Building relationships and establishing a network of contacts is essential for any artist or musician. I have established contacts at numerous record companies and amongst professional musicians in many different genres, as well as with the music press, promoters, management and live venues.
