About me
I have been a practicing artist developing my skills and experience in the art world since1992. Within this time I have worked in a variety of freelance jobs alongside maintaining my individual art practice and my more permanent employment as a creative within the art world, and the wider creative industries.
Over the years I have built up a range of transferrable skills which has giving me the confidence in making and working with people to produce finished pieces of art and design across a wide range of media and disciplines. This process has shown me that I am able to contribute valuable skills both in my own art practice and in the support of others. Within my own practice I see drawing and making a pivotal skills within my creative work, be that using and understanding other peoples and my own drawings and designs to communicate the visual outcome of a movie set or an idea for a painting or a sculpture. Working within in the film industry I have been involved in sculpting large scale sets for movies, interpreting designs and scaled drawings into real three dimensional objects to produce the 'set' to the highest standard possible, to deadline. Drawing is a vital part of my own creative practice, be that my drawings, paintings and sculptures as part of my fine art practice or my more illustrational/publishing work. I have published two graphic novels, the first, a children's book 'Custom fast wheels', and more recently 'Kosmik Musik' a collaboration with the Hollywood director Ben Wheatley. Most recently in my commercial role as concept and storyboard artist for the upcoming film Meg 2 (The Trench) I had to use my drawing ability to communicate clearly to the director and crew members scene information camera direction and angles. Within my ongoing fine art practice the use of drawing both in two and three dimensions helps support my paintings and sculptures. I am proficient in watercolour, gouache, oil and acrylic paint, small to large scale paintings.
