About me

Excellent typographic and graphic design ability. When designing I engage with the content - reading , researching and aiming to make my design communicate content in an engaging way.

My experience includes working closely with commissioning editors, authors, salespeople, editors, picture researchers, production departments, web developers, programmers, repro houses and printers. I have worked on a wide range of subjects including archaeology, architecture, art, fashion, advertising and science. I can source and commission illustration and photography or am confident in creating artwork myself if appropriate. I work with freelance designers and typesetters and am able to manage and delegate large workloads efficiently and to a high standard. I endeavour to try out different approaches and be adventurous with projects whilst keeping in mind both marketing and sales perspectives to ensure a suitable and stimulating result.

I am a friendly, calm and organized person, able to cope with demanding projects over varying timescales. I am enthusiastic about my subject and have a broad interest in design from product design to typography and architecture. I look out for design ideas, finishes, and techniques and follow advancements in web development.

Skills

Fully PC and Mac literate with advanced Indesign, Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver and Illustrator skills (CS5). Working knowledge of Flash, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Microsoft Office. Effective preparation of files for digital and print production using appropriate software and languages such as Acrobat and epub.
