"Night Guard" is a BFI-certified indie feature film, already fully funded, offering a rare opportunity for a director looking to helm their first feature. We're a small, close-knit team, but with genuine creative freedom. We're looking for a director with a genuine interest in and experience working within the crime/suspense genre.
We're planning to shoot in London, UK, from mid-October to mid-November 2026, so we're looking for a director who can join us ASAP.
The main responsibilities will be:
- Lead the overall creative vision and tone of the film
- Script reshaping
- Collaborate closely with the producer(s) on scheduling, casting, and budget decisions.
- Cast principal and supporting roles, including auditions and final casting decisions.
- Work with the DP to define visual style, shot list, and camera coverage
- Direct actors on set to achieve strong, consistent performances across all takes
- Oversee rehearsals prior to the shoot to align cast on tone and character
- Work with the editor during post-production to shape the final cut
- Ensure the film is delivered on time and within the agreed budget
- Represent the project's creative vision in press, festival submissions, and marketing materials as needed
All our legal work is handled by the leading professional firm, Lee & Thomson. The production will provide a legally sound, industry-standard agreement (full details to be discussed in person). We also have a partnership with a top film marketing company that will promote the film and the key people involved.
