I am looking for a highly skilled video editor to work on a narrative-driven documentary series focusing on historical geopolitical incidents, intelligence operations, and high-profile international security events.

The content is strictly factual, neutral, and analytical, but it is structured and paced like a high-stakes thriller. The goal is to keep the audience on the edge of their seats through masterful pacing, precise audio-visual sync, and a dark, gripping aesthetic.

The Visual & Audio Style:

  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9 cinematic format.
  • Visuals: A seamless blend of historical archival footage, declassified documents, and custom generative AI visual media (dark, moody, and highly dramatic scenes).
  • Audio/Sound Design: This is critical. You must be exceptional at sound design--using low-frequency bass drones, heartbeats, typewriter effects, sudden pin-drop silences, and massive crescendos to elevate the storytelling.
  • Pacing: The ability to execute sharp cuts, build tension during slow deliberate voiceover pauses, and deliver impactful "mic-drop" visual reveals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit raw voiceover audio and sync it perfectly with visuals to maximize narrative impact.
  • Integrate historical footage, maps, and AI-generated imagery into a cohesive, high-quality video.
  • Create subtle, professional on-screen text animations (e.g., lower-third disclaimers, typewriter-style location/date reveals).
  • Execute complex sound design to manipulate mood and tension (e.g., transitioning from the chaotic ambient noise of a warzone to complete silence).
  • Color grade archival and generated media to maintain a consistent, desaturated, and cold cinematic aesthetic.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience editing documentary, true-crime, or cinematic video essays.
  • Mastery of professional editing software (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro).
  • Exceptional sound design and audio mixing skills.
  • Experience working with or animating AI-generated visuals (Midjourney, Runway, etc.) is a massive plus.
  • A strong understanding of "show, don't tell" visual storytelling and dramatic pacing.
  • Fluent in English (ability to understand Hindi voiceovers is a bonus, though scripts/directions will be provided).

Deliverables & Scope:

  • Video Length: [Insert average duration, e.g., 10-15 minutes] per episode.
  • Turnaround Time: [Insert expected timeframe, e.g., 7-10 days] per video.
  • Revisions: Up to [Insert number, e.g., 2] rounds of revisions.
  • Project Files: Final rendered video (4K/1080p) and neatly organised project files upon completion.

How to Apply: Please do not send generic reels. To be considered, submit:

  1. Links to 2-3 specific videos you have edited that best demonstrate your ability to build tension, pace a narrative, and execute high-level sound design.
  2. A brief note on your experience with integrating archival footage and generative AI media.
  3. Your rate per video and estimated turnaround time.
