Overview:

LIVING PROOF is looking to commission an animator to develop a series of three short character-led animations with a small cohort of four young people from the YEF’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB).

The animations will support YEF’s Children’s Services strand of work, helping to bring youth voice into professional and decision-making spaces when young people cannot be there in person. The films will be used at conferences, events and potentially across YEF digital channels to help professionals connect the evidence and recommendations to real young people’s lives.

The group wants the animations to feel personal, story-led and emotionally engaging, rather than generic or instructional. The films should help audiences understand what good support looks and feels like from a young person’s perspective.

Project Context:

YEF has recently published practice guidance focused on children’s services and violence prevention. The Change Team is now working to build a movement around the recommendations and support more professionals and services to adopt them.

The young people involved in the first co-design workshop were particularly interested in using character-led stories to help professionals connect with the recommendations in a more human way. The group felt stories would be more engaging, more memorable and more powerful than purely informational content.

The animations should centre young people’s perspectives while also linking clearly to YEF evidence and recommendations.

Animation Scope:

  • Total Outputs: 3 x animated films (16:9 / 1920 x 1080 in MP4 format), up to 90 seconds each.
  • Style: 2D/3D animation - clean, modern, youth-friendly, emotionally engaging.
  • Tone: Warm, authentic, reflective. Should feel hopeful but grounded in real experience.
  • Narration: Voiceovers will be recorded by the young people (audio provided).
  • Storyboard & Scripts: To be co-designed with the YAB group.
  • Music & Sound: Simple background music and subtle sound effects where appropriate (royalty-free).
  • Branding: Include YEF and YAB logos, with consistent colour palette and typography across all three animations.
