VFX Supervisor and Lead Compositor

Seeking VFX Supervisors ready for your next on-set and hybrid workflow challenge.
As a VFX Supervisor, you’ll lead on-set and hybrid (virtual + practical + AI-assist) shoots—capturing the data VFX and AI need, partnering with directors/DoPs, and collaborating with clients, artists and pipeline to land consistent, on-model results.

What you’ll do:
• You will be SME for all related work and projects under VFX & AI assisted work, instilling new ways of working for the future success and long-term direction of the Studio.
• Shape and influence the development of hybrid and AI-assisted workflow strategy, ensuring alignment with NxGen and wider Sky Creative objectives.
• Full ownership and management of pre-production, shoots and post for VFX/AI-assisted work at a very high standard, with accountability for creative, operational and financial outcomes.
• Lead cross-disciplinary teams across shoots, post-production, AI and CG functions, ensuring clarity of roles, delivery standards and capability growth.
• Plan data capture (HDRIs, grey/chrome balls, colour charts, lens grids, photogrammetry/LiDAR, GSplats, witness cams etc); define control inputs (clean plates, depth/pose proxies, tracking markers, motion control).
• On set: supervise VFX requirements, measurements and continuity; collaborate with DoP/Director/1st AD/SFX.
• Post: Help steer matchmove / CG / comp; coordinate AI-assisted workflows (control-conditioning/relight) with Pipeline/Creative Tech; manage colour pipeline (ACES) and CDL handoff.
• Establish and uphold best practice frameworks, policies and quality standards for hybrid and AI-assisted production that support the wider function.
• Present and defend approaches to senior partners; bid and manage risk; ensure consent/safety; represent NxGen where required in senior or external forums.
• Maintain accountability for budgets across VFX/AI-assisted projects, balancing creative ambition with commercial discipline and resource planning.
• Mentor artists and emerging supervisors; help uphold World Rules and brand integrity while building internal capability.
• Implement and refine project management tools (shot trackers, review boards, version control, naming conventions) to create transparency, governance and accountability.
• Work with Producers and Tech Leads to continually improve rendering, storage, and backup systems, contributing to studio-wide transformation initiatives.
• Partner with Producers and Creatives early to assess feasibility, scope, and translate creative ideas into accurate time and resource estimates aligned to business outcomes.
• Communicate and feedback effectively with outside suppliers (roto, tracking, matchmove) and freelancers to balance quality, speed, cost and risk.
What you’ll bring:
• Strong established VFX supervision experience across advertising/episodic; proven on-set supervision.
• Previous experience leading and directing complex, cross-functional teams to ensure delivery deadlines are met and quality of content is aligned with requirements.
• Experience contributing to functional strategy and influencing stakeholders beyond individual project delivery.
• Demonstrable experience managing project budgets and commercial considerations alongside creative excellence.
• Good experience in use of new emerging technologies including AI. Act as mentor to team in building internal expertise in this area.
• Strong comp/look-dev literacy (e.g., Nuke + Nuke Studio); camera/colour fundamentals; virtual production and knowledge of Unreal Engine a plus.
• A comp lead/comp supervisor background is needed with an excellent working knowledge of CG, particularly Houdini.
• Excellent communicator and collaborator under tight deadlines; leadership and mentoring mindset.
• Open minded to defining and embedding new ways of working at scale.
• A passion for new emerging tech including AI and how to combine and integrate with more traditional methods, helping drive transformation across the studio.
