Graphic Designer
Job
Munich · Berlin · Full-time
The work is unlike anything you've done before.
Defence. Autonomous aircraft. Sovereign AI. Ethics. These are not the usual inputs for a graphic designer. But they are yours now, and the question of how you communicate them, visually, with precision and intelligence, is one of the most interesting design problems in Europe right now.
Helsing is a defence AI company. We build the software and systems that protect open societies. Our products are real, deployed, and consequential. And the way we present them to the world, to governments, militaries, and the public, has to be exceptional.
We have a small, senior design team and a brand with serious ambitions. We are looking for a graphic designer who cares about the craft and wants a brief worthy of it.
What you will do:
This is a high-output role. You will be the engine of a fast-moving creative team, executing across the full range of Helsing's visual output, with the freedom to make it your own.
- Design web pages, social content, and digital assets
- Create exhibition stands, event environments, and branded experiences
- Develop identities for new and existing products or partnerships
- Design product brochures, technical publications, and campaign materials that make complex ideas feel inevitable
- Build presentations shown to the highest levels of government and industry
- Work across clothing, merchandise, and brand objects
- Own projects from brief to production, managing timelines, vendors, and your own judgment
Who you are:
You have strong fundamentals and creativity. Your portfolio shows range: you have worked across formats, found solutions that feel inevitable in retrospect, and done the legwork to make things excellent.
You are comfortable with feedback, fast iteration, and working in an environment with multiple stakeholders. You can manage several projects simultaneously without losing quality on any of them.
You take pride in the craft: production-ready, pixel-perfect, built to last.
You should apply if you:
- Have a portfolio demonstrating high-quality work across diverse formats and disciplines -- please include a PDF or link, with any relevant websites or videos
- Have a rigorous understanding of typography, colour theory, layout, and composition
- Can translate complex, abstract, and technical subject matter into clear and compelling visuals
- Are experienced building presentations and visualising proposals
- Are organised, self-directed, and able to anticipate what a project needs before you're asked
- Are intellectually curious, prepared to learn a lot about autonomous systems, military doctrine, and AI
- Are proficient in Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Are comfortable being wrong, getting notes, and making the work better for it
Bonus:
- Copywriting, photography, or video production
- Motion skills: After Effects or Premiere
- A second language: French or German
Why this, and not an agency:
Going in-house usually means trading creative range for stability. This is the exception.
Here, the subject matter is genuinely singular. Few briefs in European design touch this territory. The domain forces you to think harder: how do you visualise a system that processes ten thousand data inputs per second? How do you communicate a product that you cannot photograph? How do you design materials for an audience that has no patience for noise?
The answers require real craft, real thinking, and real curiosity. If that appeals to you, this is a good place to grow.
You will work alongside engineers, AI researchers, programme managers, and military strategists who are among the best in their fields. The standard is high. The feedback is direct. The work matters.
What we offer:
- Competitive salary and VSOP equity options
- Relocation support: up to €2,500 and four weeks of temporary accommodation
- Learning budget: €500 / £450 per year
- Health and wellness: gym membership and mental health support via Nilo.health
- Enhanced parental leave: 22 weeks fully paid for primary caregivers, six weeks for secondary caregivers
- Family support: five days paid family emergency leave, full remote option during pregnancy, phased return to work
- Regular company events and monthly social allowance
A note on applications:
We work in a field where women and other minority groups are systematically under-represented. We actively encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every listed qualification. Potential and craft cannot be reduced to a checklist.
Send us your portfolio. Show us how you think.
