WHAT’S THE ROLE?

We’re looking for an Art Director to define, communicate, and deliver the artistic vision for an exciting new project. As a key member of the project leadership team, you will be accountable for the visual direction and quality of the game, balancing creative ambition with production realities, technical constraints, and commercial goals.

Working closely with the Game Director, Executive Producer and Development Leadership, you will guide and empower Art teams to deliver consistent, impactful results at scale. With a focus on creative leadership, clear decision-making, and team alignment, you will ensure the visual direction enhances gameplay, strengthens the player experience, and supports the overall success of the game.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Defining, owning and communicating the artistic vision and quality bar for the project, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with game design and product strategy.

  • Empowering and directing Leads and Principal artists, ensuring alignment to the project vision and consistent delivery at scale.

  • Translating creative vision into clear direction, benchmarks, and actionable guidance.

  • Providing clear, consistent feedback at a project level, ensuring visual cohesion and addressing quality gaps early.

  • Acting as the senior point of accountability for artistic decisions, making informed trade-offs between quality, scope, and delivery constraints.

  • Partnering with Production and project leadership to ensure the creative vision is achievable within timelines and technical constraints.

  • Contributing to project-level planning and resourcing discussions, ensuring the right capability is in place to deliver project goals.

  • Enabling and supporting Leads to successfully manage outsourced content.

  • Fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing game team environment.

  • Acting as a key member of the Art Leadership group, contributing to the ongoing development and success of the department and our projects.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Proven track record of setting and delivering standout art direction on shipped titles, from concept through to release.

  • Exceptional artistic judgement across multiple visual disciplines, paired with a strong grasp of game pipelines and production realities.

  • Ability to align large, cross disciplinary teams behind a clear and compelling creative vision.

  • Confident decision maker, able to balance creative ambition with scope, performance, and delivery.

  • Strong communicator and influencer, able to bring stakeholders with you at every level.

  • Experienced in leading and developing Senior Artists and Leads, building capability and raising the bar across teams.

  • A proactive problem solver, comfortable navigating complex creative and production challenges.

  • Experienced working with external partners and outsourcing pipelines.

BONUS IF YOU HAVE:

  • Experience defining the visual identity of a new IP or major product evolution.

  • Background working across multiple styles or genres.

  • Experience contributing to product positioning, branding, or market-facing visuals.

  • Familiarity with industry-standard digital content creation and engine tools.

  • Experience contributing to department-level initiatives, knowledge sharing, or cross-project improvements.

  • Experience presenting vision to senior stakeholders or external audiences.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

You will work with talented and passionate people to support, develop or publish our sophisticated and enduring games, in a creative, collaborative and inclusive environment. We love what we do, and we work hard to provide outstanding experiences for our players.

Wellbeing is a big focus at Frontier, and we are continually evolving how we can support our people. We encourage a healthy work/life balance and provide a range of wellbeing activities, initiatives and sessions to support both mental and physical health.
